File Checker
The File Checker application was developed to assist you with file preparation to create a PDF for your order. It verifies resolution, pixel dimension, file names, color profiles, and number of sides to ensure JPEGs are correct. If their are no issues, it will generate a PDF..
File Checker will ask for an Activation Code after being saved and unzipped. Your Activation Code is also your User ID which begins with 9b. This code was sent to you via email, but if you no longer have the email you can retrieve this information quickly and easily by logging into your AsukaBook account and clicking on the "Update Account" link. If the code entered in File Checker does not match the User ID for your account, the system will not allow the file to be uploaded.
- Finalize your layouts and save all files as JPEGs into one folder.
- Drag your folder of all designed JPEGS on top of the File Checker icon.
- File Checker will open a dialog box if all of the templates are correct. Some fields will be automatically updated based on your templates. Please make sure the details are correct and complete the rest of the form.
- Error: Missing Image File.
- Check for correct number of files required.
- Check that all files are .jpg.

- Check that all files follow the correct naming convention. (File names cannot have spaces, or 'copy' as part of the name)

- Verify cover (000000.jpg) dimension is correct for selected book size.
- Check for correct number of files required.
- Error: Image color mode is not RGB. Please make sure no images are in grayscale or CMYK mode.
- One or more files do not match the correct color space. Please change all files' color space to AdobeRGB or sRGB.
- Error: Some color profiles are not embedded.
- One or more files do not have a color space embedded. Please change all files' color space to AdobeRGB or sRGB.
- Error: Color profiles are mixed. Please save all pages with the same color profile.
- One or more files do not match the correct color space. Please change all files' color space to AdobeRGB or sRGB.
- Error: Resolution of cover page is incorrect. It should be 260 dpi. Please do not change resolution.
- Cover page (000000.jpg) should have a set resolution of 260 dpi.
All AsukaBook templates have correct resolution set (260 dpi for the cover and 271 for inside pages).

- What is File Checker?
- File Checker is our program designed to assist you in the file preparation process. This application will ensure your designed files have met the specifications required to produce your AsukaBook and generate a PDF for your order. It integrated into AsukaBook Maker and is directly compatible with the AsukaBook InDesign® Tool and our Photoshop® blank templates.
- What does File Checker do?

File Checker is necessary to create an AsukaBook PDF as it creates a file that contains and verifies the necessary requirements for printing. The program will verify the following:
- number of files
- embedded color profile of Adobe RGB or sRGB
- the same embedded color profile for all files
- correct file naming convention
- dimensions
- resolution
- Do I have to use File Checker?
- No. File Checker is required if you would like to export a PDF AsukaBook design file using the AsukaBook InDesign/Photoshop Tool. You may also choose to use it if you would like to create a PDF for a book order using the JPEG files you created using our blank Photoshop templates or another design software. Alternatively, you can now upload those designed JPEG files directly to your online account where our online system will verify the files.
- What is the latest version of File Checker available?
- Go to DOWNLOAD page for the most current version of File Checker for Windows and Macintosh.
- What are the hardware specifications recommended to install and run the AsukaBook File Checker software?
- The following specifications are recommended:
PC - 1GHz or faster processor and at least 500MB RAM. Windows XP/2000
Mac - G4 or faster processor and at least 500MB RAM. OSX only. - How do I install File Checker?
- Download the most recent version of File Checker.
Move the File Checker application icon onto your desktop or your Dock if you're on a Mac. - What is my activation code?
- Your activation code is your new AsukaBook User ID which needs to be entered into File Checker before you can create your PDFs. You must enter your User ID as the activation code, which the system uses to verify that the PDF's being uploaded matches the customer account. You should have received this code in an email but you can also view it by logging into your account and clicking on the "Update Account" link.
